Hollyoaks star Owen Warner is taking on an additional new project, as he turns his hand to radio presenting.

The actor, who has played Romeo Nightingale in the soap since 2018, will be joining Hits Radio on a temporary basis, as he covers regular presenter Sam Thompson's evening show.

Owen's name has been added to the station's schedule, which confirms that he is "in for Sam" and will be "playing the biggest hits and the biggest throwbacks" from 7 - 10pm, beginning tonight (November 13).

The actor said of his new role (via On The Radio): "It's an honour to be joining the Hits Radio family and I can't wait to get on air and introduce myself properly to all the listeners."

He has also confirmed that he'll still be filming on Hollyoaks, adding: "You can expect to hear all of those biggest hits and biggest throwbacks as usual - as well as a little bit about my life, Hollyoaks - yes, I'll still be juggling the day job! – and of course I'm a Celebrity."

The news appears to confirm the rumours that Made in Chelsea star Sam will be heading into the jungle for this year's series of I'm a Celebrity! Get Me Out of Here... as he steps away from his regular radio job.

Sam has also been spotted arriving at Australia's Brisbane Airport, alongside First Dates star Fred Sirieix, This Morning presenter Josie Gibson and YouTuber Nella Rose.

Owen took part in I'm a Celebrity himself last year, finishing in second place behind former England footballer Jill Scott, so it is likely that he'll be sharing his own stories from the show while Sam is in camp.

He has recently enjoyed a far more luxurious trip himself, after he jetted off to Fuerteventura with his girlfriend - and former Hollyoaks co-star - Jemma Donovan, who recently left her role as manipulative influencer Rayne Royce.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
