Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Friday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Monday.

Phoenix Hathaway has dropped a major bombshell over Rayne Royce's death in Hollyoaks' latest Channel 4 streaming episode.

The first-look episode cast new suspicion on Rayne's boyfriend Romeo after it initially appeared her ex Brent Taylor was the prime suspect for murdering her.

James Nightingale had arranged for Brent to be attacked in prison as a way to force him into confession to the crime, thus getting James's son Romeo off the hook.

However, Romeo has also started showing erratic behaviour, including ignoring his friends' wishes in order to throw a live-streamed memorial for Rayne's social media followers.

His friends eventually pitched in, with Peri even finding a beautiful portrait of arch-enemy Rayne to display during the memorial ceremony.

The suspicion around Romeo continued to grow when his friends found him tearing up the portrait and then snapping when they tried to intervene.

While Romeo tried to apologise at first, he grew angry again when Nadira called him out for his intimidating behaviour ever since Rayne died.

His anger frightened Phoenix Hathaway, and while Romeo did apologise, Phoenix dropped a bombshell that could change Rayne's murder case.

"Brent didn't kill Rayne," Phoenix said.

A worried Romeo then asked: "What did you see?"

Viewers will have to wait until next week to find out what exactly Phoenix saw, though they do know Romeo and Peri are hiding a secret over something they did to Rayne on the night of her death.
