Ruby O'Donnell, who plays Peri Lomax on Hollyoaks, has shared who she'd bring back to the soap if she could.

Proving that cast members and their characters are not the same, Ruby would choose to get Cameron Moore back onto the show... despite the fact that he happened to play a ruthless serial killer prior to leaving.

The actress also spoke about her favourite storylines for Peri (and has plenty to pick from considering the character has lived through a brain tumour, teen pregnancy, and seeing her father imprisoned to name just a few events).

When asked by Inside Soap about which co-star she'd most like to bring back, Ruby exclaimed "I was talking about this the other day, but I really want to bring back Peri's dad, Cameron, even though he's a serial killer!"

But, maybe there's a clever way to avoid the whole mass-murderer business: "Working with Cameron [Moore, who plays Cameron Campbell] was insane, and I miss him. If there was a way he could have a twin brother and come back as my uncle, that would be great."

Ruby also added "Or Jess Ellis, because she was the life and soul of the Lomaxes. But Tegan's dead and my dad's in prison because he killed about 12 people!" So, not the most likely duo to return.

Asked about her favourite moments as Peri, the star shared "I did like the teen pregnancy because that was the first-ever storyline of my own. But hands down my favourite story was Peri's homelessness.

"It was special, mostly because of the crew, and it was such a big challenge – the week we filmed in Liverpool it went down to -2 degrees. I fell in love with acting at that moment and when I watched it back, it was all worth it."

Well, it's a good thing Ruby enjoys filming the tough scenes, because things between Peri and Juliet look like they could reach a tragic end.

Hollyoaks airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
