Hollyoaks airs game-changing Bobby Costello confession

Hollyoaks has aired a major twist in Bobby Costello's continuing story. The kid has been exhibiting violent tendencies that are chillingly similar to his serial killer grandfather Silas (who he killed).

Bobby recently murdered Verity to protect the secret that he allowed Sylver to die in the fire that he started, something that John Paul and Goldie discovered through the CCTV footage.

In tonight's (December 28) episodes on E4, Goldie ignored JP's warning to keep things silent until after the wedding and made sure Felix saw the video, and he sent it straight to Zoe.

Soon enough, the police descended on the McQueen wedding to bring Bobby in for questioning, but Mercedes had already taken him on the run.

In the second episode, the one where Prince dumped Olivia at the altar after Hunter revealed she tricked him into sleeping with her, the police chased after Mercedes and Bobby.

In the woods, Mercedes got Bobby to admit that he started the fire, with his reasoning being that he thought Felix was dodgy and just wanted to keep her safe. "Nothing about you is normal, you're terrifying," she said, tearfully. "It's just lie after lie, I think you just want me all to yourself."

Bobby retorted that he did do what he did all for her attention, as he had been sent off to America, raised by Myra, and watched Mercedes choose alchohol and men over him. He promised that he was a good boy deep down, and they could have a happy life together if they could just escape.

When the cops finally caught up with the duo (after Mercedes knocked Felix out with a telephone), Mercedes told Bobby to keep quiet and was ready to take the full blame... when Bobby stepped forward and confessed everything, ready to protect his mum for once.

Is this essentially the end of Bobby's reign of terror, or is it just a bump in the road?

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
