Hollyoaks' DeMarcus faces risky decision in bullying plot

Tonight’s (August 26) episode of Hollyoaks has left DeMarcus facing a very risky decision involving his bullying story with young offenders.

In case you missed it, DeMarcus is in the young offenders’ institute on remand after being wrongly accused of Saul’s murder.

But while he’s there, he encounters a bully who is involved in some very shady business which includes smuggling in contraband such as phones.

DeMarcus is then introduced to a new inmate who, he discovers, is going through withdrawals because he was a very heavy spice user. He stresses the fact that he needs to stay away from the drugs as he fears he might relapse.

When the bully asks DeMarcus what he knows about the new inmate, he says there’s nothing of importance, not knowing that the bully overheard their conversation about spice.

He then tells DeMarcus about a new “business opportunity”, saying he needs help moving things around.

“I don’t think the newbie would be of much help,” DeMarcus says.

“I won’t rope him in if you help,” the bully says, to which DeMarcus flat out refuses.

This bully then begins intimidating a new inmate. DeMarcus wants to protect the newbie, but in order to do so he ends up having to pacify the bully by agreeing to be a part of his latest dodgy deal. And this time, it involves spice.

“Last chance, you have to help me out tomorrow, or I’d have to beat you,” says the bully to the new guy.

DeMarcus then frantically tries to stop that from happening, quickly agreeing to do the bully’s bidding.

“You’ll pick up the spice when my guy drops it off,” he tells him.

When DeMarcus says he thought he was dealing with phones, not spice, the bully tells him, “Why? Because your mate is a junkie? But it’s good, [because] we know who our first customer is.”

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
