Hollyoaks' Mercedes McQueen has found herself under suspicion after hearing the news that Wendy Blissett had died in a fatal road accident.

Last week's episodes saw the McQueens finally learn the truth about Wendy's connection to notorious serial killer, Silas Blissett as she attempted to kidnap Bobby, only for the youngster to quickly text the McQueens for help, setting the scene for Mercedes to confront Wendy.

Tonight's (June 20) E4 first-look episode picked up with Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) driving away with Wendy (Jennifer Armour) before parking in an abandoned location as she demanded answers about Silas' plans.

After a heated argument, Wendy insisted that she only ever had Bobby's best interests at heart.

"I love Bobby and I don't want any harm to come to him, you have to believe that," Wendy said, with Mercedes quickly countering by asking Wendy to reveal where Silas has been hiding to prove herself.

"I'll get my dad off your back if you just let me say goodbye to Bobby," Wendy continued. "One goodbye, and I'll make your nightmare disappear."

As Mercy agreed to Wendy's request with a pointed "don't make me regret this", Wendy quickly turned around and appeared visibly relieved by Mercedes' decision.

As Mercedes and Wendy returned to the village to say her goodbyes, Wendy was seen keeping a close eye on a mysterious Range Rover whose driver urged Wendy to take quick action.

Fortunately, Mercedes clocked on to the scene and ensured Bobby was protected by the McQueens once again as she demanded that Wendy leave the village, only for the driver to bundle Wendy away in the car while Mercedes watched on.

While the McQueens were left to reflect on everything that happened, a distraught Bobby was left worried about what had happened to Wendy and quickly put the blame on Mercedes.

"I don't want to listen to you," he told his mum. "I hate you."

With the relationship between mother and son strained, the McQueens were later left rocked by the arrival of policeman Saul Reeves, who revealed that Wendy had been involved in a road traffic accident.

"I'm sorry to inform you she didn't make it," Saul continued, before turning to Mercedes and adding: "Which means I need to speak to you."

With Wendy dying under suspicious circumstances, Saul insisted that Mercedes needed to report to the station for questioning as the episode ended. Will Mercedes come under fire for Wendy's death – or is there more to the story?
