John Paul McQueen and James Nightingale have had an unexpected romantic reunion in Hollyoaks.
The couple crossed paths once again in Thursday's (January 23) first-look episode, as James (Gregory Finnegan) continued to wallow in the misery of his tragic secrets.
Grace Black (Tamara Wall) has threatened to kill James if he goes to police over their involvement in Mercedes McQueen's shooting, or ever again mentions her brother Jesse's death.
The latest E4 instalment saw James visiting former John Paul to apologise for lashing out at him at Hollyoaks High, admitting that his world has been shattered ever since Harry's death.
"I know you well enough to know you need a friend," John Paul told him.
After calling John Paul a "shining light in the darkness" that he needed in his life, James took his ex by surprise with a kiss!

They were immediately interrupted by James's boyfriend Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan), who was none too pleased to see the former couple kissing.
"I wouldn't call it 'cheating'. What we have is more professional," James argued. "Two business partners with occasional benefits."
Liam begged to differ, asking if John Paul had any idea that James tried to murder his sister only a few weeks earlier.
"If you even think about saying anything, don't forget I have plenty on you too," he warned.
Liam startled James by snapping his photo, then stormed out to add it to his dartboard alongside photos of Mercedes and Maxine Minniver. Is James under threat?
Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
