Holby City's Adrian 'Fletch' Fletcher is soon to discover a devastating secret, having been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer.
While preparing to undergo an important surgery, the director of nursing is left shaken when his teenage daughter Evie (Phoebe French) tells him that she's dropping out of school – something that completely derails his road to recovery and makes him start to question himself.
Taken aback by Evie's honesty, Fletch (Alex Walkinshaw) chooses to momentarily put aside his opinion on her bold decision, and decides to open up to her, too.

Then, the pair – shocked to learn that they've both been keeping certain things to themselves – vow to support one another no matter what from now on. But are they just making excuses because they're afraid of what the future might hold?
"Being a single father comes with its own pressures," Walkinshaw told What's on TV, as he teased what's to come for his character. "Fletch should be focusing on his treatment but it's hard to do that when you're the sole carer for your children.
