Emmerdale may have just revealed a huge clue about Dr Caitlin Todd's future after the sinister medic issued Charity Dingle with a chilling seven-day deadline. Monday's (18 May) episode of the ITV soap saw Caitlin, played by Caroline Harker, ramp up her blackmail campaign against Charity as she continued threatening to expose the truth about baby Leyla's parentage.
The storyline has spiralled dramatically in recent weeks after Caitlin discovered that Leyla was conceived following a one-night stand between Charity and Ross Barton. After helping Charity deliver the baby last month, and finding out the truth, Caitlin initially demanded £10k to keep the secret under wraps, claiming the money would compensate her for her early retirement.
But once Manpreet Sharma inadvertently revealed that Charity co-owns The Woolpack with her son Ryan, Caitlin dramatically increased her demands to £100k. Monday's episode showed Charity becoming increasingly desperate to find a solution. She even attempted to sell half of her beloved pub to Ruby Fox-Miligan, only for Caleb Miligan to question why she seemed so determined to get rid of it.

Outside, Caleb reassured Charity that he would help her if she ever needed support. Neither of them realised, however, that Caitlin had secretly been watching their conversation from Vanessa Woodfield's lounge.
The instalment later took an even darker turn when Caitlin arrived unexpectedly at Jacobs Fold while carrying baby Leyla in her arms. It was there that she finally delivered her ultimatum. Charity now has one week to find £100k - or Caitlin will expose everything.

More significantly, Caitlin also hinted that she could soon leave the village altogether once the money lands in her account. "Once I get my money, I’m out of here," she warned Charity. The comment immediately sparks speculation that Emmerdale could be preparing Dr Todd's exit storyline. But whether Caitlin genuinely plans to leave still remains unclear.

So far, the character has shown herself to be deeply manipulative and unpredictable. Her behaviour towards Jacob Gallagher previously escalated from workplace bullying into psychological torment, while her budding romance with Vanessa increasingly appears tied to her wider schemes. Meanwhile, Vanessa remains blissfully unaware of the full extent of Caitlin's actions.
Recent scenes have seen Caitlin discussing the possibility of moving into her late father's house, which she inherited following his death. According to her, the house requires expensive renovations - another reason she claims to need Charity's money so urgently. But whether that explanation is genuine or another manipulation tactic is uncertain.
With Charity backed into a corner and Caitlin tightening her grip, the blackmail storyline is quickly becoming dire. And if Dr Todd is preparing to leave the Dales, she may be planning utter devastation before bowing out.
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 8pm on ITV.
