Emmerdale spoilers follow from Tuesday's episode (7 April), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn't aired on ITV1 yet.
If you thought Emmerdale's Dr Todd and Jacob Gallagher had finally turned a corner after last week's heart-to-heart, then prepare for some whiplash. Tonight's episode sees the doctor once again unleashing her fury on the trainee, in her nastiest outburst to date.
Last Thursday's episode saw Jacob finally standing up to the bully after witnessing her being rude to a patient. However, in a surprise revelation, Dr Todd explained that the man was actually her father who was suffering from dementia.

Jacob told her about his own caring responsibilities and the pair shared a rare, heartfelt moment. But it turns out their camaraderie didn't last very long...
In tonight's episode, an exhausted Jacob arrives at the hospital for another gruelling shift and is immediately thrown into the deep end when Todd's dad goes into cardiac arrest.

He begins giving the patient CPR, despite learning that he has a 'Do Not Resuscitate' order in place.
"What can I do, just let him die while she's somewhere in the building? She'd never forgive me," he tells his colleague Rich, as he continues with the CPR.
After resuscitating the man, Jacob insists he did the right thing, but Rich makes it clear that he wants no part of the consequences. Later, Dr Todd confronts Jacob over his disregard for clear instructions, telling him he has made "the gravest of errors".

She ushers him into the room and details the consequences of his actions, describing the CPR "an assault". Humiliated Jacob tries to defend his reasoning, admitting he was scared of being blamed for her dad's death, but the doctor furiously orders him to leave.
"I want you to have never been anywhere near my dad. I wish I'd not felt sorry for you, and encouraged you, and lied about your potential. I wish I'd been honest about you from the start," she rages.
"You are useless. You're never gonna complete your training and you are never gonna be a doctor. But seeing as it's too late for most of that, what you can do now is get in your car and go. Get lost, Jacob!"
Following Dr Todd's tirade of insults, a teary Jacob makes a swift exit from the hospital and lashes out alone in his car. Could this be the end of his dream career?
