Believing Bear has vanished off the face of the earth following their big argument, Paddy prepares to make a statement to the police. PC Swirling takes notes as he listens to Paddy explain why he's so worried. Having heard his concerns, Swirling reckons Paddy is overreacting and believes there's no evidence to suggest Bear might be in danger.
Poor Paddy is left frustrated the authorities aren't taking this seriously, and turns to his wife Mandy for help. Determined to find her father-in-law, Mandy assures Paddy they won't give up on looking for their missing relative.
Meanwhile, Matty Barton keeps Paddy's daughter Eve occupied by offering to take her and Isaac for a walk in the woods. But the trip takes an unexpected turn…
"Matty and the kids decide to play a game and pretend they're hunting for bears," explains our Emmerdale spy. "It's a cute scene as the three of them explore the woods playing their game. Suddenly spying something in the distance across the field, Eve calls out to Matty – she's seen Bear!"

As the little girl reveals what she thinks she just saw, Matty is mortified that he's seemingly confused Eve by having an imaginary 'bear' hunt, when there's an actual manhunt going on for her grandpa Bear.
He tries to explain to her she can't have seen Bear, without trying to draw attention to the fact he's vanished and nobody has a clue where he is. Has Eve picked up on hushed conversations with regards to her grandfather's whereabouts, and wished for his return so her dad cheers up?
Paddy then delves deeper into the mystery and contacts the car hire company his dad used when he went away. Unfortunately, it sheds no further light on where Bear might have gone, leaving Paddy to believe that Bear deliberately chose to cut his family out of his life. The truth is even more upsetting…
