Emmerdale star Claire King has revealed she shed real tears in a recent death scene.
The actor, who plays Kim Tate on the ITV soap, opened up to Women's Weekly about how personal tragedy caused her to cry for real in her big Christmas 2025 storyline.
The festive episodes saw Kim's husband Will Taylor scheme against her, but during a huge argument, he collapsed from a heart attack and passed away.
In the interview, King shared she was dealing with a real-life bereavement at the time, and her grief manifested in her performance. "My tears were real filming those scenes because my father had just passed away," she said.
"He was 85 and rushed to hospital, and that's how it happened. My grief is ongoing, but you've just got to crack on, haven't you? We all have to face it at some time."

When she learned that Will actor Dean Andrews wanted to leave the soap, King shared that she asked him to stay, but understood why he felt the need to move on.
"I said, 'Oh no, keep playing with me,' but he wanted to go and do other things," she recalled. "Emmerdale is on six [episodes] a week and it's a bit of a treadmill."
