Paddy and the other villagers have already been attending Man Club sessions within Emmerdale, but he's now keen to confide in people who don't know him in his day-to-day life.

The vet makes a nervous start as he's torn over opening up to strangers, but he eventually speaks up and reveals what he's going through.

Paddy is relieved when the group is understanding towards him, finding it reassuring to know that he's not alone with his problems.

Later, Paddy bonds with some of his fellow Man Club members and agrees to come back for another visit soon.

Filming for these scenes took place at the Bradford City Football Club ground in the same room where the suicide prevention charity Andy's Man Club hosts regular meetings.

Show bosses were keen to portray an authentic meeting point for Paddy's visit. The ITV soap has continued to carefully explore Paddy's mental health since he considered taking his own life in March.

Emmerdale's producer Laura Shaw recently said: "We've already seen Paddy speaking to his GP, being prescribed medication, going for counselling and talking to his friends and family, to help him with his struggling mental health.

"Our research showed that in addition to these things, many people find it easier to talk to strangers about their problems and so we wanted to show Paddy doing just that - opening up in a different environment and talking to strangers.

"It was vitally important to us that we portrayed these scenes authentically, hence the scenes were shot on location at a real Andy's Man Club venue and AMC carefully and brilliantly guided us through scripting and filming the scenes so they were as true to life as possible.

"We hope if anyone watching is feeling like Paddy, like they can't talk to friends or family, they might be encouraged by these scenes to reach out to their own local club for help and support."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
