Emmerdale star Rosie Bentham opens up over love life

Emmerdale star Rosie Bentham has opened up about her love life, revealing that the soap hasn't helped her when it comes to finding dates.

Speaking to The Mirror, Rosie said that when chatting to fans she can tell if they're interested in her romantically or not when they ask her about her character.

Describing it as a "red flag", Rosie said that it's obvious when people are more interested in discovering spoilers than getting to know her.

"The biggest red flag is when someone says to me, 'So, tell me what's going to happen next,'" she revealed of the subtle signs.

"It’s obvious at that point they’re not interested in me, they’re just trying to get spoilers out of me," she added.

As a 21-year old, Rosie said that her real-life romantic interests aren't usually the target audience for soaps.

"It’s nice if someone says, 'Oh, my gran watches it' – but I don’t think many 21-year-old boys are genuinely interested in watching soaps."

Rosie, who has starred as Gabby Thomas on the ITV soap since she was 15, also recalled her first on-screen kiss, which she described as "awkward" and "embarrassing".

"It was nerve-wracking, not only was I young, but I had my parents sat behind a screen watching everything," Rosie said. "We had to do the kiss quite a few times as well, which was awkward. I was so embarrassed.”

Recently Rosie opened up to Digital Spy and other media about her character's love life, sharing details about an upcoming romance storyline between Gabby and the handsome male nanny Nicky (played by newcomer Lewis Cope).

"Since Jamie, she's not really had any male attention. I mean, she's a mum at the end of the day," she said of the budding romance.
