Emmerdale's Samson Dingle struggles as baby story continues

Samson Dingle will continue to struggle to get his way as Emmerdale's baby Esther storyline develops.

The reluctant father has been mean-spirited lately, devastating Amelia by suggesting they put their child up for adoption.

After arguments with both Amelia and Noah, Samson called social services to report Esther's mother for mistreatment, his cruellest move so far.

When Sam caught wind of Samson's actions, he confronted his son and told him of the sacrifices he made for his late wife, but Samson was unmoved, biting back by saying he wanted to be nothing like his father.

In episodes that air next week, Samson begins to realise the gravity of the situation, as his refusal to be a father leaves him ostracised.

He feels betrayed when he sees Lydia, Dan, Sam and Amelia with Esther in the café, with Lydia showering the baby with gifts and letting everybody know that the baby is part of their family whether Samson agrees or not.

Lydia makes good on her pledge by offering to organise Esther's christening, much to the delight of Amelia who is grateful for the suggestion.

As the plans are underway, with Lydia being engrossed in her leadership role, Amelia squeezes Noah's hand, with the latter being delighted he's been involved in the arrangements.

As the group are evidently happy, Samson approaches outside after hearing some chatter, but quickly realises his actions and attitude to parenting has left him separated.

With a newfound feeling of loneliness, will Samson use this as a turning point to be a better man or will he double down in his efforts to be an absent father?
