Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley teases "messy" fight scene for Cain and Al

Emmerdale actor Jeff Hordley has said Cain Dingle and Al Chapman's punch-up will turn "messy".

In new scenes coming to ITV, Cain will unravel Chas Dingle's fling with village villain Al and use her burner phone to set a trap.

After holding Al at gunpoint in the barn, Hordley's character sets the weapon down so the pair can have at it.

Discussing Cain's intentions, the soap star began by sharing: "Cain brings Al into the barn with the shotgun just to frighten him, really, just to make a point.

"In the end, he puts the gun down and they have a good old-fashioned 'taking off your jackets, rolling up your sleeves, getting ready to fight' moment."

As it turned out, shooting their scuffle was "great fun" thanks to his "brilliant" screen partner Michael Wildman.

"The choreography for the fight scene was quite rigorous, quite exhausting but it was really well done," Hordley said. "Michael and I put in ideas and we all collectively collaborated together. We wanted it to be a little bit messy. I haven't seen it but I hope that it will be.

"It was quite a little workout, shall we say, for the afternoon of filming."

Further teasing the duo's long-awaited showdown, Hordley added: "Cain rests the gun on a hay bale while they talk it out. We've been waiting for this moment.

"Sadly, because of COVID, we've had a lot of words and standing across rooms at two metres for the past few years, going, 'I'm going to get you' or 'stay away from my son'.

"It was nice for the characters, and for Michael and I, to do a fight scene and get physical, which was fun to do."
