Emmerdale star Katherine Dow Blyton teases storm danger for Harriet

Emmerdale star Katherine Dow Blyton has spoken about her involvement in dramatic stunt scenes for the show's 50th anniversary storyline.

The ITV soap is about to launch a set of high-stakes episodes, which see a deadly windstorm hit the village on the day of Kim Tate and Will Taylor's wedding.

Katherine's character Harriet Finch has spent the past few weeks desperately trying to win back Will, who's adamant that he wants to stay with Kim.

In Sunday's hour-long special (October 16), Harriet jumps in to help when she hears that Amelia Spencer has gone into labour in the middle of the storm.

Harriet heads out on a quad bike to find Amelia, with Kim following closely behind on her horse when she decides to help too.

Speaking about the big episodes, Katherine explained: "It's great. I've never been involved in the super stunt weeks before, so this is my first time. It's exciting and I loved doing the stunts."

Asked if Harriet will be involved in the storm danger, Katherine replied: "Oh yes she will! I had the wonderful Belinda who was my body double. She was amazing.

"I did as much as I was comfortable with but obviously nowhere near her talent, skill and bravery. I was quite happy to watch. It's spectacular to see the work that goes into something like that.

"It's exciting to be involved in stunts and big stories, and to be fully immersed into something so dramatic is brilliant."

Katherine also spoke about working alongside Dean Andrews and Claire King, who play Will and Kim, on the ongoing love triangle storyline.

She said: "It's fab. I've obviously worked with Dean a lot but I haven't had much screen time with Claire until this point so it's been fabulous. We had a laugh and became friends and had long talks. She's great and what a trouper. I've never known someone who works so hard."
