1. Emmerdale: Faith lashes out at Cain

(Thursday at 7.30pm on ITV)

Hurt by Cain and Chas's decision to only allow her supervised visits with her grandchildren, Faith steals a chameleon from the vets to surprise Kyle and Sarah.

Disaster strikes when Faith realises the animal has escaped and Al finds it at the bar. As Cain and Chas confront Faith over her silly stunt, their hearts break when she begs them not to stop her from making precious memories with her grandkids.

Despite her plea, the pair refuse to change their minds, and Faith is distraught to realise all the signs point to her having to relinquish control of her own life.

Fearing she hasn't long left, Faith decides it's time to get her affairs sorted and after opting for a Do Not Resuscitate order, she asks Cain to act as her lasting power of attorney.

What to Read Next

Later, Cain visits his mum to finalise the details of her dying wishes, but the distressing situation causes a confused Faith to think he's Shadrach. Consumed with fear, Faith grabs a frying pan and lunges towards Cain, screaming at him to get away.

2. Coronation Street: James's heart stops

(Wednesday at 8pm on ITV)

With The Flying Horse re-match looming, Jenny enlists pro player James to put the Rovers team through their paces.

Dev delivers a pre-match pep talk, but Tim gets the huff when he thinks he's making a dig at his impotence and accuses Peter of betraying his confidence. The cross cabbie storms off, leaving James with little choice but agree to step in and play.

Despite having a skilled footballer on their side, the Rovers team find themselves trailing behind The Flying Horse. With minutes remaining, James shows his players what he's made of, but tragedy strikes when he suddenly collapses on the pitch.

While terrified Ed rings for an ambulance, Michael performs CPR on his unconscious brother.

A hospital dash later, James undergoes a series of tests and is diagnosed with a heart condition called cardiomyopathy.

The Baileys are told James will need to be fitted with an ICD to prevent further cardiac arrests, leaving Aggie to break down as she watches her son being wheeled away to theatre. Is this the end of his footballing career?

3. EastEnders: The Mitchells' past is exposed

(Monday at 7.30pm on BBC One)

The truth about Keeble's vendetta against the Mitchell family is finally revealed this week as viewers are transported back to 1979. With Britain plunged into economic turmoil, Peggy (played brilliantly by Jaime Winstone) is struggling trying to run a busy household as the cracks in her marriage to Eric deepen.

After learning Phil has secured himself a job a garage, Eric decides to take him and Grant out on a 'job', despite the disapproval of their mum.

Flashing forward to present day, Phil fears he'll never be able to escape the past as Keeble threatens to ruin his wedding to Kat unless he delivers information on someone close by.

While Phil and Billy end up in a heated exchange, there's a new arrival in town when Freddie Slater causes a stir on the market place. Spotting the teen up to no good, Billy decides to call the police, but is stunned when Freddie introduces himself as his son.

Honey's not impressed and demands Billy contacts Little Mo straight away to tell Freddie the truth about his biological father.

Elsewhere, an increasingly desperate Phil makes one last attempt to get the better of Keeble, but realises he may have underestimated just how far the DI is prepared to go for revenge.

4. Hollyoaks: Silas is on the loose again

(Tuesday at 7pm on E4 and Wednesday at 6.30pm on Channel 4)

Having resorted to extreme measures to ensure her family are protected from Silas, Mercedes is relieved when Sam insists the evil OAP is now under arrest.

Determined to defeat her enemy once and for all, Mercedes hatches a deadly plan, but is horrified to see the 'Silas' being transported in a police van is actually an imposter.

Knowing the serial killer has outwitted them all once again, Mercedes is in a race against time to protect her loved ones and begs Grace to get her fake IDs so she and Bobby can flee the country.

Mercy's edgy behaviour doesn't go unnoticed by John Paul, who urges his sister to stop living in fear. But as another threatening letter arrives, Mercedes and the rest of the McQueens realise there's every reason to be scared.

5. Emmerdale: Sandra manipulates Liv

(Wednesday at 7.30pm on ITV)

On a mission to destroy Liv and Vinny's marriage, Sandra convinces Gabby the couple are having problems and suggests she offers her support.

Liv is shocked to see her husband and Gabby deep in conversation, but soon realises it's all her mum's doing and calls her out for stirring the situation.

With her plan failing miserably, malicious Sandra tells Terry she's going to disrupt Liv's sobriety and swaps her daughter's drink for an alcoholic one. Oblivious, Liv takes a sip of the cocktail and immediately fears she's about to spiral into addiction again, but decides not to tell Vinny.

It's not long before Vinny finds out though, and the couple end up clashing, much to Sandra's delight. With Liv in a vulnerable position, Sandra fuels her insecurities by suggesting they take some time away from Vinny and the Dales with a last-minute trip abroad.

6. Coronation Street: Toyah and Spider are back on

(Friday at 8pm on ITV)

As the protest gets under way outside Underworld, Nadeem rocks up at the factory to discover Carla has decided to call their deal off. The police soon arrive on the scene, but while Craig urges the protestors to disperse, Griff rallies the crowd.

With tensions building, Carla and Nadeem emerge from inside and Spider watches on in horror as Griff accidentally hits Craig on the head with a bottle and gets arrested.

There's more drama later in the week when Saira confronts Toyah on the cobbles, accusing her of murdering Imran so she could be with her new boyfriend.

Griff tells Toyah they should teach Saira a lesson by slashing her car tyres, but Spider warns it's a foolish idea with her trial looming.

Concerned by Griff's next suggestion to torch Saira's flash motor, Spider begs Toyah to cut ties with him then confesses his love, revealing his marriage is over.

Reunited, the couple share a kiss on the balcony and agree to keep their relationship under wraps until after the trial, unaware a vengeful Saira is watching from afar

7. EastEnders: Frankie's in danger

(Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One)

Frankie's first day as a teaching assistant doesn't get off to a good start when she notices Amy, Denzel and Nugget mimicking her signing to Esme.

Disappointed by their ignorant behaviour, Frankie gives them a telling off, but the trio retaliate by taking inappropriate photos of Frankie and using them to create a social media video.

After seeing the footage, Frankie reports the video to Mr Morden, but is unimpressed by his refusal to act.

To forget about her terrible day, Frankie heads out clubbing with her mates, but is forced to leave early after being hassled by a sleazy stranger on the dancefloor.

Taking the tube back to Walford, Frankie becomes aware she's being followed and her fear turns to terror as she's accosted by the creepy bloke from the club.

Mercifully, a passer-by intervenes, allowing Frankie to escape his clutches and get home. While Shirley comforts her, Mick is relieved his daughter got away physically unharmed, however Frankie doesn't see it that way.

8. Hollyoaks: Devastation for Ella

(Wednesday at 7pm on E4 and Thursday at 6.30pm on Channel 4)

Ella worries Charlie has stopped fancying her when he suggests they keep their relationship light-hearted. After being egged on by Leah, she decides to send Charlie some intimate selfies, but quickly regrets it and begs him to delete them.

Later, the back-to-school sports day ends in disaster when Mason launches a ball at Ella, and protective Charlie responds by punching him. Annoyed by his violent outburst, Ella reaches a decision about her future with Charlie, but is left mortified when her private pictures are posted online.

While Charlie insists he wasn't responsible, Cindy and Nancy embark on a mission to discover who swiped his phone and leaked the images. But just as it looks as if the real culprit is about to be outed, someone sets off the fire alarm, causing even more chaos.

9. Home and Away: Tane plays with fire

(Wednesday at 1.45pm on Channel 5)

Tane is concerned that the bikies have gone silent on him, and Nikau dares hope they've given up on their plan to launder money through the gym. Unfortunately that's not the case, and a menacing Tex informs Tane he'll be receiving a new employee to take care of the books.

Meanwhile, suspicious Rose runs a police check on Tex's numberplate, discovering his real name is Leigh Wheeler and he has links with the biker gang. She confronts Tex, who admits his true identity, but insists he wants them to carry on seeing each other.

Over at the gym, Tane is having a tough time dealing with his new 'employee' Genevieve. In desperation, he turns to Rose and agrees to help the police with their investigation into the bikies.

Despite Rose being unable to guarantee his safety, Tane pushes on with his risky plan and ends up in a fierce showdown with the gang leader, Marty. Will Tane risk his life to bring the bad guys down?
