There is a sporting war brewing between two pubs as The Rovers Return prepares to take on The Flying Horse in a charity football match in Coronation Street – but it leads to a devastating shock for James Bailey.
Feeling the need to win and show what pub is best, Jenny is feeling the pressure and she's set on making sure her team is as prepared as they can be.
That leads to her bringing in James, following some advice from Tim, to help train the team and to share some of his wisdom ahead of the big match.

But teamwork looks like it could be their biggest problem when Tim and Peter come to blows. Peter had just learned about Tim seeing a sex therapist, and when Dev gives a speech before the game, Tim wrongly assumes something said is about his issues and he lashes out at Peter for betraying his trust.

Leaving the pitch and making it clear he has no plans to return, James is forced to step up and take his place in the match, while Tim licks his wounds in the pub with Aggie.
While Tim misses out on the action, a tense game is underway between the two teams and The Flying Horse has the lead and looks like the winner.
But James refuses to let that happen and pulls out all the stops to get The Rovers back in the game – and he ends up giving them the lead in the process.

But it all goes wrong when James suddenly collapses, and things do not look good for him, as Michael has to perform CPR to save him.
At the hospital, James learns that he has a condition called cardiomyopathy, and he has to have an operation to be fitted with an ICD to prevent further cardiac arrests.
Will James be ok, and what does this mean for his life going forward?
