Emmerdale's Nicola Wheeler reveals three endings in attack scene

Emmerdale star Nicola Wheeler has revealed that there were actually three different endings for the scene where Nicola King was attacked.

Upcoming scenes see Nicola realise that newcomer Naomi Walters was present at the time of the incident, as she was friends with the girl gang.

Speaking in a new interview, the actress explained how it all came about.

"We filmed three different endings. When the story was initially pitched, Naomi wasn't part of it," Nicola said.

"But the character of Naomi was coming into the show and I think it was Jane Hudson's idea, it was the executive producer who came along and said we could link the two storylines, which was great."

She then described what the three different endings were.

"We filmed three different endings of whether Naomi was just looking, whether she was indifferent to the attack or whether she was apologetic and wanted to help Nicola," she said.

"When Karene [Peter, who plays Naomi] first came in, I don't think they knew which angle they were going with. They definitely knew about the girl gang, but they didn't know where they were going with her point of view."

"In the end they went with her being an innocent bystander," she said.

"Of course we would encourage anyone to come forward if they witnessed something like that and this is what the show is saying. You're guilty by collusion if you're there and you haven't done anything. You can certainly call the police and report the crime, which she didn't," she added.

This is part of an upcoming storyline with Nicola which concerns her brutal attack in a car park where a group of girls bullied her by taunting her and then beating her up.

Nicola recognises Naomi from her voice and trainers when she shows up for her first day at work, leaving her to wonder if Naomi was involved in her extremely traumatising attack.
