Emmerdale star Daisy Campbell "really excited" for Amelia birth scenes

"It's something I've always wanted to do."

Emmerdale star Daisy Campbell has weighed in on her character's upcoming birth scenes.

The actress plays Amelia Spencer, whose unplanned pregnancy was revealed in an episode aired in July. The news came to a shock to viewers and Campbell alike.

"I was absolutely shocked," she confirmed.

"But really happy because it's something I've always wanted to do. I've always wanted this storyline for Amelia, so I was over the moon for it."

Campbell has been preparing to film Amelia's labour, due to air later this year.

"I feel really excited. When I said I always wanted to do this storyline, that's what you lead up to and that's what you're working towards" she said.

"I am a little bit nervous but really excited because I've done my prep and I know where to go with it."

The actress explained she has been watching reality TV show One Born Every Minute to get ready, particularly focusing on teen pregnancies, as is the case with Amelia.

"I hope she finds a bit of happiness," the actress said of her character's arc.

"This will bring her happiness, but even in herself. I'd like her to find happiness but some drama as well, because we all love a bit of drama."

As for when fans will get to welcome Amelia's baby, there's no official confirmation as to whether the birth will air during Emmerdale's 50th anniversary in the autumn... yet.

"You are right with your dates. Amelia is due soon. Whether she has the baby in the 50th celebration month, I'm not going to tell you," executive producer Jane Hudson said earlier this month.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
