Emmerdale will mark its 50th anniversary with a special documentary to air on ITV.

The upcoming film celebrating the soap will feature classic Emmerdale clips as well as rarely seen gems straight from the archive, including feuds and more lighthearted moments that fans of the village know and love.

The doc will involve past and present cast members, ready to watch back their most famous storylines to share reflections on their characters.

Last June, Emmerdale was declared the winner of Best British Soap at this year's British Soap Awards, hosted once again by This Morning's Phillip Schofield.

The Dingles won big at the event, with the entire clan winning the award for Best Family, while Mark Charnock as Marlon Dingle earned the award for Best Dramatic Performance.

Additionally, Paige Sandhu, who played villain Meena Jutla, scored Best Leading Performer for her murder storyline which resulted in the baddie finally being brought to justice earlier this year. The character was written off the show, with Sandhu departing in April.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
