Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Rhona Goskirk tries to make amends with Laurel Thomas tonight (December 14) following their recent row.

Rhona reacted angrily last week when Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) revealed that she was considering terminating her pregnancy following the news that her baby would be born with Down's syndrome.

Laurel and her partner Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) later discussed their options in-depth and reached the decision to end the pregnancy.

In Monday's episode, Rhona changes her stance and reaches out to offer Laurel some support.

As the decision weighs heavily on Laurel, she's grateful as Rhona approaches to make peace with her.

Later, after talking to Rhona, Laurel arrives home at Mulberry Cottage and confides in the kids about what she and Jai have decided to do.

Zoe Henry, who plays Rhona, recently praised Emmerdale's decision to explore this controversial storyline from two different perspectives.

A special episode last week showed Rhona and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) talking fondly about their son Leo (Harvey Rogerson), who has Down's syndrome, and the joy he has brought to their lives.

Zoe commented: "What it does is give a full picture and balance, because actually Laurel's story is the polar opposite of Rhona's story that we played ten years ago. You need that to complete the picture.

"It would have been very odd to tell Laurel and Jai's story without including Rhona, Marlon and the difficult choices they came up against ten years ago.

"We need to show both sides of the coin in any story that we're telling. Rhona and Marlon's story with Leo is essentially a very happy ending, really. They went through the same emotions and worries that Laurel and Jai are going through.

"They chose a different path, it worked out very well for them, they're very proud of their son and they love him very much. As Rhona says, they wouldn't change a single thing about Leo. It was important that those two narratives run alongside each other."

Emmerdale airs tonight at 7pm on ITV.
