Emmerdale was due to run out of episodes at the beginning of June, but the cast and crew recently returned to work for a series of special 'lockdown' episodes. Thank you, Soapland.

Last Wednesday (May 20), filming for the six upcoming episodes began, and now Emmerdale favourite Mark Charnock has shared his experience of the new production process.

Mark, who plays Marlon Dingle, told Twitter that he "loved" being back on the soap's set, and also paid tribute to his fellow co-stars, "the best crew in the world", and the "mighty director" Ian Bevitt.

Reassuring fans that everyone was kept safe while Marlon, Al and Ellis were reunited, Mark wrote: "Loved being back filming a fantastic @Emmerdale episode yesterday with #michaelwildman @aaron_ants & the best crew in the world.

"Hats off to mighty director @ianbevitt for his brilliance. The team's done a truly jaw-dropping job of keeping everyone safe. Blimey, but I've missed it!"

What to Read Next

Emmerdale announced that it would be resuming filming earlier this month, after taking a break following the government's guidance on social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The soap has put special measures in place to ensure that both the cast and crew are kept safe while on set, with scenes being specially planned and blocked so that everyone can stay two metres apart.

The standalone nature of the six episodes also ensures that only a small number of actors will be required on set at any one time. You can see which characters are involved with the new episodes here.

Emmerdale currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV.
