Emmerdale fans were left disappointed after Wednesday's episode (May 13) when it appeared a crucial scene involving fan-favourite couple Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) had seemingly been left on the cutting room floor.
In the first half of the episode, viewers saw Charity argue with Vanessa over her decision to ask best friend Rhona (Zoe Henry) to be her son Johnny's guardian in the event of her death.
The argument caused Charity to reveal that the reason why she hadn't wanted to go through with adopting Johnny wasn't because she didn't want to take care of him but because she couldn't bear the thought of Vanessa dying.
But, after the commercial break, the episode changed to a new day and a later scene showed that Charity and Vanessa had made up.
Charity even suddenly announced that she was going to adopt Johnny.
Fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment at not seeing the two characters properly talk things out, with some even demanding that the soap release the scene which was seemingly left on the cutting room floor.

Another fan added: "As much as we love Vanessa asking Charity to adopt Johnny i would have preferred to actually see them talk. And make up. Any Chance we can see that scene please."

While it's unclear why tonight's edition appeared to be two episodes merged into one, it's possible that the time jump could be related to the soap having to shut down production in March due to the current pandemic.
