Emmerdale's Charity Dingle will tell Tracy Metcalfe about Vanessa Woodfield's bowel cancer diagnosis, which upsets Vanessa.
In scenes airing next week, Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) is in pain. Charity (Emma Atkins) tries to comfort her, but ends up feeling useless.
Charity then walks in on Tracy's (Amy Walsh) surprise birthday party for Vanessa. Charity knows that a party is the last thing Vanessa needs right now, especially with the cancer diagnosis still a secret. So she drags Tracy outside and tries to persuade her to scrap the party.

When Tracy refuses to stop the surprise, a desperate Charity blurts out the cancer diagnosis.
A shocked Tracy rushes and tries to get everybody out, but she fails and Vanessa is greeted by a cry of "surprise".

The ITV soap is working with charity Bowel Cancer UK on the storyline, and Michelle Hardwick, who plays Vanessa, recently said that she hopes to do the "story justice".
"I was actually really shocked to learn that bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK and the second biggest cancer killer, but diagnosed early is treatable," she said.
Emmerdale airs these scenes on Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10 at 7pm on ITV.
