Emmerdale fans are now the ones playing amateur investigators as the whodunit storyline over Harriet Finch's attack begins.

The mystery started unfolding in Friday's (April 5) episode after the village vicar (Katherine Dow Blyton) involved herself in a dispute between Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) and Aiesha Richards (Shila Iqbal).

Because the jobs of several workers were on the line, Dawn sneakily got Aiesha sacked by Jai (Chris Bisson) by sabotaging some of her work.

Harriet later found out and urged Dawn to tell the truth. Dawn refused to confess, so Harriet exposed Dawn's sabotage to Jai in hopes of making things right for everyone.

Only a short a time later, the private investigator-turned-vicar was shoved face-first into the gravel in the village by someone wearing a hoodie.

Was it a coincidence or connected in some way? After all, it was revealed last year that Harriet had once handed Dawn's drug-dealing father into the police and he later died in prison.

Emmerdale airs Mondays through Fridays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
