Emmerdale fans are now facing a four-day wait to see the aftermath of last night's cliffhanger involving Maya Stepney and Jacob Gallagher.

Thursday's episode saw the show's shocking grooming storyline take another dark twist when abusive Maya (Louisa Clein) convinced David to let her move in with Jacob while he's away on business.

Maya's abuse of Jacob has recently taken another disturbing turn when they had sex at a hotel, and she's now come up with a new plan to spend even more time with him,

However, viewers will have to wait a little longer than usual to see how the story develops, as Emmerdale isn't back on until next Tuesday.

As we all know, Emmerdale usually airs at 7pm on weeknights, but football coverage means the show has been taken off schedules both tonight (March 22) and on Monday (March 25).

An hour-long episode will air at 7pm on Tuesday, March 26 to make up for it – with the second half of the episode clashing with EastEnders over on BBC One.

Emmerdale isn't the only soap facing scheduling changes, though, as Corrie isn't on tonight either due to the England vs Czech Republic match airing on ITV.

However, Corrie will be airing a one-off hour-long episode on Sunday, March 24 instead. Normal service will be resumed in the latter part of next week.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
