"The stakes are so high – this decision will change Suki and Eve’s lives forever," explains our Walford insider. "It’s understandable that they are both finding it hard to stay calm, but holding your nerve and presenting a united front is vitally important. It’s no wonder that they both fear they’ve blown it."

The week doesn’t get off to a good start thanks to an angry row between Suki and Vinny. He’s consumed by sadness over his late brother Jags and accuses Suki of being too caught up in the adoption panel to give her lost son a moment’s thought.

Although it’s not true, Vinny’s harsh words rattle Suki, as does a run-in between her and Nicola at the Minute Mart. So, when there’s yet another dig from Nicola on the day of the adoption panel, Suki’s nerves are shredded.

However, if Suki thought that Nicola’s words were triggering, she has worse ahead as the panel begins questioning her over her past parenting…

"Suki’s relationships with all her children are somewhat complex," says our source. "Suki is usually cool as a cucumber under pressure, but the added element of Jags’ anniversary has left her more vulnerable than usual.

"Trying to talk the panel through her past parenting requires considerable skill, but Suki keeps tripping up, and it all becomes too much. Before the panel is even finished, Suki rushes off without Eve."

Eve is heartbroken by how badly the day has gone and heads to Harry’s Barn for a stiff drink. However, any hope of some quiet time to process what’s happened is destroyed when Nicola collars Eve and can’t resist slating Suki.

When Nicola badmouths her missus, Eve sees red and lashes out! Will her reckless behaviour, as well as Suki’s disappearing act, cost them their dream of adopting a child?
