EastEnders spoilers follow for Monday’s episode (1 June), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
EastEnders has aired a horrific tragedy in Albert Square, as the soap reveals the mysterious story involving Chelsea Fox and Ian Beale. In shocking scenes as the night that changes everything in Walford kicks off – one character has been left in huge danger by a terrifying sequence of events.
This week’s episodes are set across a single night, the evening of Ross and Vicki’s wedding reception, and at the start of today’s instalment, the community was happily celebrating the couple’s nuptials in the marquee.

Ian was in high spirits as he and Elaine continued their secret flirtation. As he was driving, he had remained sober during the day, but Kathy and Peter encouraged him to have one pint.
He shared a sweet moment with his ex-wife Cindy, but when Kathy joined the chat in a drunken state, a row broke out between the two women – and Ian thought it best that he takes his mum home, even if that meant missing the flashmob.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, unaware of her mum Denise’s cancer diagnosis, was having a tricky night, as her son Jordan was acting up, running riot and throwing insults at fellow wedding guests.
Her evening took a surprising turn when she headed to the dancefloor with Mark, with Josh offering to keep an eye on the kids. But Mark and Zack ended up fighting over her, with the pair already at odds after the events of the wedding.
Chelsea escorted Zack outside to calm the situation down, and the friends almost kissed, but they were interrupted by Jordan, who was clutching some golden balloons.

Furious Chelsea reached breaking point with her son and told him to go inside, but she didn’t realise that Jordan ran away from the reception instead.
Nearby, Ian and Kathy got in the car, but drunk Kathy was messing around with the radio while Ian attempted to reverse out, and he hit something. They thought it was just a bin so drove away, but viewers saw the golden balloons left in their wake.
"Do you ever get those moments when you suddenly realise you’re alive?" said Denise, alongside a montage of the community partying. "You catch yourself and you think, god, I’m actually, really here.

"I’m walking, I’m breathing. These eyes I’m looking out of are seeing real things, real people. And this is all really happening. It reminds you that life is terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. How fragile we all are. How easily everything can be lost."
The final moments of the episode then cut to a harrowing shot of little Jordan lying unresponsive, where Ian had unknowingly hit him with his car. Will Jordan be okay?
