EastEnders spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (2 September), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
EastEnders has aired a dramatic shooting in Albert Square with two characters facing danger – and it’s completely unexpected.
At the end of yesterday’s episode, Zoe Slater arrived in Walford for the first time in 20 years and came face to face with Kat.
Kat ran towards her estranged daughter in today’s episode, but Zoe warned her to stay away. Tommy had told her he would steal Alfie’s card to get her money, but it turns out this was a total ruse to bring Zoe home to their mum.
With Kat promising to give her whatever money she needed, Zoe reluctantly agreed to come inside, and she nervously headed into The Vic amid Patrick and Yolande's wedding celebrations.

Upstairs, Zoe began to berate her mum for her actions two decades ago, but Kat swore she’d changed and was a good mother. They were interrupted by Bert and Ernie running in with Tommy to meet their big sister.
Zoe went to secretly escape, but she was stopped by Big Mo just in time, and the pair had an emotional reunion.

She decided to stay and have chips with Kat, Alfie, Mo and the kids. In the joyous scene, Zoe began to feel at home and said she’d consider sticking around in Walford.
But when social worker Lesley arrived for the rescheduled appointment, Zoe realised that things hadn’t been plain sailing for Kat and suspected her mum hadn’t actually changed.
Kat explained the truth about social services and told Zoe that Tommy was violent towards her last year – but Zoe wasn’t impressed that her mum had hit him back.
As a tense confrontation unfolded, talk turned back to her own childhood, but Kat reminded Zoe that she had cared deeply for her as a sister before the truth came out.

Zoe still struggled to come to terms with the fact that her conception was a result of sexual violence from Kat’s uncle and even said she wished Kat had terminated the pregnancy.
The pair shared a beautiful moment of reconnection, but Zoe still refused to stay, saying she had done some awful things. She headed outside and Kat ran after her, begging Zoe to stick around and complete her family.
Meanwhile in this episode, Ravi overheard Jack and Oscar talking about the gun the teen had picked up, so he later broke into the house to get the missing weapon back.

Ravi was spotted leaving by Denise, who returned to The Vic and reported what she’d seen to Jack.
Furious, Jack confronted Ravi in the Square and the pair ended up in a violent scuffle on the ground as they fought to get their hands on the gun.
In the chaos, Jack and Ravi accidentally pulled the trigger – while the gun was aimed in the direction of Kat and Zoe. The two men looked horrified as the gunshot rang out, but who has taken a bullet?
