EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders' Phil Mitchell is set to make a big confession following a shock disappearance.

Phil has spent the last month recovering in a mental health unit after attempting to take his own life.

Last week, Phil discharged himself from the unit and reunited with his family.

Viewers later got a look at Phil's time away, with a special mental health episode focusing on his stay in the unit.

The episode showed Phil opening up to his new friend, fellow patient Gaz, confessing that he'd never stopped loving Sharon.

In scenes to air next Monday (March 31), Sharon is warmed by a Mother’s Day gesture from her brother Zack and son Albie.

But Sharon's happiness is short-lived when Nigel arrives and reveals Phil is missing.

At No. 55, Denise, Sharon and Nigel call the police, but the situation is quickly defused when Phil returns and offers a simple explanation.

Realising the mix-up is down to Nigel’s dementia (which Sharon is unaware of), Phil covers for him, but Sharon is unconvinced and enlists the help of Kathy and Denise to buoy Phil.

Touched by her reaction and encouraged by Denise and Nigel, Phil finally reveals his feelings for Sharon once they're alone at No. 55.

Phil's confession isn't the only surprise for Sharon next week, as it's already been confirmed that her half- sister Vicki Fowler is set to make a dramatic return to Walford.

Vicki was last seen in Albert Square in 2004 and will be returning for her uncle Martin’s funeral.

However, Vicki will look a bit different this time around, as actor Alice Haig will be taking up the role previously played by Scarlett Alice Johnson.

Vicki will also be bringing some new characters with her, partner Ross (played by Casualty and Holby City's Alex Walkinshaw) and his teenage son Joel (newcomer Max Murray).

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
