EastEnders has confirmed a horrifying ordeal for Avani Nandra-Hart next week in a harrowing new drugs storyline.
This week, Avani and Amy Mitchell reach out to their friend Lily Slater after her dad Martin's death and try to help her cope with her grief.
But with Lily still struggling next week, Avani wants to show her support and suggests that the three of them skip school to have an adventure.

The trio are quickly caught by Priya Nandra-Hart, but Avani convinces her mum not to say anything as they are trying to cheer Lily up.

While their day is going well, they bump into Marvin, who sold Avani vapes last year, and he offers the teenagers drugs. They refuse to get involved but it's too late, as the police arrive and realise the girls are out of school.
The police then spot a bag of pills that Marvin has dropped by Avani's feet, so the trio are taken to the station. But while Amy and Lily are collected by Jack Branning and Jean Slater, Priya and Ravi Gulati fail to answer calls about Avani.

Alone at the station, Avani is horrified when she is told that she needs to be strip searched, as they believe she could be concealing more drugs.
In shocking scenes that will air in a special episode on Tuesday, March 25, Avani is strip searched by two female officers, having refused the offer of an appropriate adult in the room.
Suki Panesar is tipped off by Jean and arrives at the station to collect Avani, disgusted by what has happened – but Avani doesn't want her grandmother to make a complaint.

Back at home, an oblivious Priya asks Avani about where she has been, and the pair end up in an argument, with Avani accusing Priya of being a bad mother.
Priya soon finds out about Avani's detainment and strip search, and she confronts Jack about the actions of his officers. Meanwhile, Avani is humiliated and lashes out at her friends, before breaking down once she is finally alone.
Later in the week, Suki, Priya and Eve Panesar-Unwin worry about Avani, while the struggling teenager secretly heads to the playground to drink a bottle of vodka.

Priya and Ravi soon discover that Avani is missing and are shocked to find their daughter passed out in the playground. Ravi realises something is wrong after they visit the doctor, and Suki finally tells him what happened to Avani.
