EastEnders aired a dilemma for Phil Mitchell as Alfie Moon continued to recover from his operation.
Alfie recently underwent surgery in a bid to recover from prostate cancer, with Phil growing closer to him as a result.
The developments came as stepson Tommy prepared for his debut boxing fight, with Alfie keeping his condition a secret from his adoptive son for the time being.

Phil, who is also harbouring guilt over his recent infidelity, agreed to keep up the façade by telling Tommy that Alfie was in Spain, and tonight’s (September 25) episode began with Tommy fretting that his father wouldn’t make the bout.

In a bid to keep two camps happy, Phil organised a trip to Crete with Kat, but the mood was quickly dampened as they received a call informing them that Tommy hadn’t turned up for school.
Phil later found him sparring at the gym, but Tommy refused to go back to school as he was annoyed that Alfie wouldn’t show. In a bid to appease him, Phil revealed that he was ‘flying home’, and then scrambled to rectify the situation.
After warning Keanu away, Phil travelled to the hospital to pay a visit to Alfie, with the latter saying it looked likely that he would be on the mend.

Phil took this as the greenlight that he could return home, but Alfie revealed that he wasn't yet ready to leave the hospital, leaving Phil to face the prospect of disappointing Tommy.
As he returned home, Phil told Kat that Alfie wouldn't be coming, with Tommy overhearing the conversation. As the group convened in the kitchen, Tommy refused to fight, and left Kat fearing the worst as he alluded to Phil's secrets...
