EastEnders spoilers follow from the soap's BBC iPlayer box set, which is available to watch now. Some readers may prefer to avoid these storyline details, as the episodes haven't yet aired on BBC One.

EastEnders fans will be waving goodbye to Peter Beale this week, as he departs Walford under a cloud.

Peter's exit will air in Thursday's episode (July 14), which is already available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

We confirmed last month how Dayle Hudson would be leaving his role as Peter after two years.

Ricky Champ (Stuart Highway), Dana Monroe (Barbara Smith) and Kelsey Calladine-Smith (Jada Lennox) are also being written out from the BBC One soap, along with Tanya Franks – who left as Rainie last week – and Danielle Harold, who is bowing out as part of a heartbreaking new Lola story.

Peter's final episode will see him burn bridges with his entire family, after reporting his uncle Ben for attacking him earlier in the year.

Peter's shock actions came following an already turbulent week, which saw him sleep with Bobby's ex-girlfriend Dana, before coming to blows with Ben at Rocky's party.

With Ben now facing a very uncertain future as a result, Kathy urged Peter to change his statement.

However, with Kathy not willing to break Ben's confidence over his harrowing ordeal with Lewis, she failed to persuade Peter otherwise.

Desperate to protect Ben, Kathy then took matters into her own hands and lied to the police that Lewis was actually the culprit for Peter's attack.

Despite some initial police uncertainty, Kathy's plan worked and Ben was eventually released from custody.

Ben's first port of call was then to confront Peter for grassing him up, leading to another violent showdown between the pair.

In a scene which some may recognise as history repeating itself, Ben forced Peter's head down the kitchen sink.

Hurt after learning the role Kathy played in Ben's release, Peter later told Dana he was leaving for good.

After unpleasant goodbyes with Kathy, Bobby and Rocky – where Peter gave them all some harsh home truths – he then walked off through the Square.
