EastEnders boss Jon Sen has dropped a big hint that Mick and Linda Carter may not be able to keep their baby secret hidden forever.

When Linda (Kellie Bright) first discovered that she was pregnant earlier this year, it was revealed to fans that the father of her baby was actually Max Branning (Jake Wood), who she had a short relationship with last year.

Linda and her husband Mick (Danny Dyer) have agreed to pretend that the baby is Mick's and that Max should remain in the dark over the fact that he has another child on the way, particularly as Max has now disappeared from Walford with his young granddaughter, Abi.

But one person who could blow Linda and Mick's cover-up apart is Rainie Highway (Tanya Franks). She currently doesn't know the truth, but her finding out could be disastrous for the Carters.

With Rainie still keen to know the whereabouts of little Abi – who she had wanted to bring up herself – discovering this secret could provide her with a method of enticing Max back to the Square.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media, the soap's executive producer Jon Sen suggested that Linda and Mick could be on borrowed time when it comes to keeping the baby's parentage a secret.

"Of course, let's not forget Linda and Mick. Linda is pregnant obviously with Max's baby. They're desperate to hide that from the Square," he said.

"But Rainie, as ever, is intent on finding out the truth, and will the Carters be able to convince everyone that Mick's the father in time, or will Rainie get to the truth?"

Not only do the Carters have Rainie to worry about, but Max's brother Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) is also now suspicious, having recently overheard Linda revealing the truth about how far along her pregnancy is.

Are the Carters about to have their baby secret revealed?
