EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders will expose Bernadette Taylor's surrogacy secret next week, as her family learn the truth.
Bernadette has agreed to carry Rainie and Stuart's baby for them, in exchange for payment.
She went to the clinic to be inseminated in last week's episodes, but has deliberately not shared the plans with her family – only her best friend Tiffany.
Instead, the Taylors have been led to believe that the cash Bernie has gifted them is as a result of a work bonus.
That's not all though, as Bernie has also been hiding a dangerous secret in regards to her weight loss regime.
What to Read Next
Bernie is desperate to lose weight, believing that will aid a healthy pregnancy, and has resorted to drastic measures in order to do so.
Tiffany will reluctantly give Bernie more diet pills next week, but does warn that they are dangerous – especially if she is pregnant.
Worried for her friend, Tiffany insists that Bernie take a pregnancy test to confirm either way – and even buys her one herself.
When Rainie spots what's going on, she is beside herself with nerves and excitement, and vows to be there when Bernie takes the test.
Keegan is also shocked when he sees Tiffany buying the test, and mistakenly believes it's for her.
With emotions now at an all time high, Tiffany opens the pregnancy test back at the Taylors, just as Keegan comes in.
As Keegan demands an explanation, Bernie eventually blurts out the truth to her brother.
With the truth now out in the open, a furious Karen later confronts Bernie, who gives her some home truths in response. But is Bernie actually pregnant or not?
Explaining Bernie's determination to go through with the surrogacy, Clair Norris – who plays her – told Digital Spy: "At the start it was definitely to do with money.
"She's been feeling the the pressure of being the oldest one in the household – Keano isn't there anymore and Keegan is living with Tiff.
"They've had money troubles, Bailey went missing and I think Bernie took it upon herself and believes that it's her responsibility to go out and get some money. Of course, she happens to go down the more exaggerated route but that's the opportunity that came up and she just went for it."
Clair added: "At the beginning, it was definitely money related and she was definitely thinking of the family and what that money will do to help them. As time has gone on, though, she's seen the reaction from Rainey and Stuart and how desperately they want a baby.
"Bernie can relate to that, having lost her baby before. She feels for them and wants to help them. I think that's nice because then you can pay two different reactions to that."
EastEnders airs these scenes next week on BBC One. All episodes will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer from Monday, July 19 at 6am.
