Ian Beale has made a desperate attempt to get the Taylors out of Walford in EastEnders.

Wayward teen Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) knows the truth about Dennis's death and has been blackmailing Ian (Adam Woodyatt) to get control of The Arches, leading to a battle to gain the upper hand between the two.

In Monday's (March 23) episode, Dotty continued to pressure Ian over revealing the truth, while Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) encouraged her son to convince Sharon (Letitia Dean) to change her mind about giving up baby Kayden.

"You can't just pass your baby around like a parcel," Kathy insisted. "In her heart, she knows that. And you've got to make her face it… I'm telling you, if she walks away from Kayden, she'll never forgive herself."

Ian continued to comfort his long-time friend, especially when the duo saw Karen (Lorraine Stanley) and Bernadette Taylor (Clair Norris) walking with the newborn child in the Square.

While Sharon did break down over seeing her baby with her in-laws, Ian felt more guilty than ever when a tearful Sharon admitted that she didn't actually want to keep Kayden.

"The only son I ever had is dead," she insisted.

Ian was now feeling even more guilt about Sharon's condition, so he went to Karen with an offer: he would give her enough money so she could comfortably care for the baby.

The only catch would be that the Taylors would have to leave Walford forever so Sharon would never again have to be tortured by the sight of seeing them in the Square.

"The only alternative is we go down the official route, and Kayden goes into care," Ian threatened.

There is more heartbreak ahead for Sharon as her son Dennis's funeral sets the stage for her to lash out at her friend Linda Carter.

A looming confrontation with her estranged husband is also coming up when Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) returns to Walford for the first time since the boat crash.
