EastEnders has revisited Bex Fowler's past with drug abuse in disturbing scenes.

Viewers might remember that the teen began overusing her ADHD tablets last summer to cope with the immense pressure she was feeling over school and exams — which led up to her suicide attempt last autumn.

Bex (Jasmine Armfield) had made strides over the last several months, but was rocked more recently by the revelation that her mum Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) had stolen money from Dot Cotton (June Brown).

In Thursday's (February 13) episode, Bex was trying to settle into living with Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell), Iqra (Priya Davdra) and Habiba Ahmed (Rukku Nahar).

Bex and Bobby invited Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) out to have some fun, but their night was marred when they found a social media post harassing Bobby.

At the same time, Dennis Rickman (Bleu Landau) was none too pleased to see his nemesis Bobby hanging around with Dotty and Bex.

Dotty tried to take Bobby's mind off the online harassment by revealing she'd bought some drugs for the trio.

"Rubbish happens all the time. Doesn't mean you should let it get to you," Dotty told Bobby. "Tonight's gonna be fun. And I've gotta an idea that's gonna make it even more fun."

Bobby turned her down, explaining: "It's not for me. I had a bad experience with pills and I ended up in a train tunnel. It's a long story."

"Well, if [he] ain't up for them, I am," Bex surprisingly told Dotty.

As the soap's 35th anniversary week looms, it has been announced that Jasmine Armfield is due to leave her role as Bex Fowler after five years.

"I've had such a fantastic time playing Bex Fowler and loved being part of EastEnders but now feels like the right time to try something new," the actress recently said.

"I've made friends for life working on the show and shall miss them all."

Bobby's social media harassment storyline will also move forward during the anniversary week, when his father Ian goes on a rampage after the teen is attacked.

EastEnders continues on Friday (February 14) at 8pm on BBC One.
