EastEnders' Mel Owen will make some shocking moves in the aftermath of her son Hunter's big prison escape.

Upcoming scenes will see Mel (Tamzin Outhwaite) learn that Hunter has escaped from prison, but by the time next week arrives, she's managed to catch up with him.

Fans will have to wait and see how the story unravels, but Mel will ultimately make the risky decision to keep Hunter on the run.

Unfortunately for her, Mel's plans will be thwarted by Ben – who is on a mission to get information about her best friend, Lisa Fowler.

As Mel resorts to desperate lengths to help Hunter and keep him hidden, she is thrown into a huge dilemma when it becomes clear that Ben is cottoning onto what's going on.

With Hunter's escape front-page news, Mel does her best to continue as normal but quickly arouses suspicion from Ben – who has picked up on her shifty behaviour.

Once alone, Ben corners Mel and reveals that he saw her by the flat Hunter is hiding in. Knowing she's been caught out, Mel is forced to relent and ends up giving Ben what he wants.

Panicked after her altercation with Ben, Mel frantically makes an exit plan and stuffs her bag with cash from the E20's safe.

As Mel heads back to Hunter, her paranoia grows and things soon get worse when the police arrive with some shocking news.

Feeling the pressure afterwards, Mel becomes even more determined to flee with Hunter – especially after hearing from Billy that the other prisoners have been caught.

After getting their passports together, Mel races home, but is stopped in her tracks by Ben once again.

Fed up with being strung along, Ben issues Mel an ultimatum, but fans will have to wait and see what she does next.

Either way, Mel is making the final preparations to leave Walford by the end of the week, but it doesn't take long before Sharon realises something is going on as well.

Realising how much she’s leaving behind, Mel manages to visit Amy and say goodbye, but will she really go?
