Coronation Street and Boon star David Daker has died at the age of 90. His family confirmed his death, saying the British actor passed away on 30 April. No cause of death was revealed.
Known for his role in the ITV comedy-drama Boon, Daker starred as Harry Crawford, Ken Boon's best friend, from 1986 to 1992.
The actor played two roles on Coronation Street, first as Basil Griffin on the ITV soap between 1968 and 1969. He later appeared as Gordon Lewis between 1981 and 1985.
In his early television career, he starred in BBC drama Z Cars as PC Owen for over 80 episodes. During his career, the actor had roles on shows including Only Fools and Horses and Porridge.
He also appeared in two classic Doctor Who serials, playing Irongron in 'The Time Warrior' between 1973 and 1974, before playing Captain Rigg in 1979's 'Nightmare of Eden'.
Following the news of his death, tributes from fans began pouring in on social media, with one X user writing: "RIP the never-less-than-splendid David Daker."

Daker married his first wife, Stella Newton, in 1957, with whom he had two children, their son Tim and their daughter Pippa. He is survived by his second wife Hilary, their daughter Rebecca, and his son Tim.
