Coronation Street and Emmerdale bosses have responded to reports of AI-generated fake news content appeared on Facebook, reporting the posts as "extremely hurtful" and "damaging". The two ITV soaps shared a statement after reports of AI-generated posts were shared online, including fake spoilers and incorrect information.
"It has been brought to our attention that a lot of AI-generated Facebook pages are posting fake news about Emmerdale and Coronation Street actors and the programmes in general. Some of these posts are extremely hurtful and damaging to reputations," the statement shared to Facebook read.
They added: "Please only follow genuine news outlets and feel free to report those you think are fake via the usual methods."
Meanwhile, both Emmerdale and Corrie have been taken off the air amid sports coverage to be aired on ITV1, with longer editions to make up for the missed episodes.
Both soaps had slotted in 60-minute editions for Friday 12 June, as the usual transmission pattern is torn up on a temporary basis due to FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage.
ITV's schedules also show that Emmerdale airs for an hour from 8pm on Monday 15 June. Corrie follows for an hour at 9pm that night. The same goes for Tuesday 16 June, with a 60-minute Emmerdale at 8pm and a 60-minute Corrie at 9pm.

There will be no episodes airing on Wednesday 17 June, as ITV is showing the England vs Croatia game that evening. On Thursday 18 June, ITV broadcasts the Switzerland vs Bosnia & Herzegovina match, so there's no room for the soaps then, either.
Both soaps resume as normal on Friday 19 June, with Emmerdale airing at 8pm and Corrie following at 8.30pm.
