Coronation Street spoilers follow from Thursday's episode (30 October), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn't yet aired on ITV1.

Coronation Street bad boy Carl Webster makes yet another enemy tonight, as show newcomer Ben Driscoll unleashes a darker side. Carl realises that he may have met his match as Ben roughs him up – determined to protect his family.

With the Rovers Return under new ownership, the Driscolls are about to learn that life on the cobbles is always eventful. And as the pub is at the heart of the community, they may quickly be forced to take sides.

Trouble brews at The Rovers when Ollie Driscoll mentions that the legal case against him – involving a car accident and a dodgy MOT – has now been dropped.

Kevin Webster overhears the conversation and seizes the opportunity to throw shade towards his brother, loudly proclaiming that Carl is the expert in dodgy MOTs.

The Webster siblings square up to each other, prompting new landlady Eva Price to throw Kevin out for causing trouble.

Later, things get worse over at the garage when Kevin attacks Carl with a wrench. Before the showdown can escalate further, Ben intervenes to break things up.

Suspiciously, when Ollie later catches sight of Carl with stitches, he fears that his hot-headed father Ben was responsible. Ben denies being to blame, although admits that he reckons Carl was involved in the dodgy MOT scandal.

Ollie urges Ben to leave it there, as his girlfriend Dee-Dee Bailey has already worked her legal magic and made sure that the case against him was dropped.

Ben agrees to respect his son's wishes, but can't resist showing Carl who's boss when they next cross paths on the Street.

Pushing Carl towards a wall, Ben announces: "I'm not here to give you grief – I'm here to give you a warning. I don't like you, okay? You stay away from my family, or it won't be a couple of stitches you need – I'll put you in hospital, understand?"

As the dynamics on the Street continue to change following the Driscolls' arrival, is Ben a force to be reckoned with?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
