Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's cunning Carl Webster shows his true colours next week, as he plots to get his sister Debbie to give him access to the hotel business accounts. But Debbie isn't the easy target her brother thinks she is, and he must resort to devilish methods to get his hands on the cash…

"If you thought Carl was just a little bit dodgy, think again," warns our Corrie insider. "This isn't Carl just taking advantage of an opportunity, this is him going all-out to get his hands on Debbie's cash – and he's not shy when it comes to weaponising her dementia against her. Carl really can't sink any lower."

With Carl and girlfriend Abi Webster needing to set up a new life together, they're in desperate need of money. While Debbie has thrown Carl a lifeline with the hotel job, Abi is still struggling. She hopes to at least solve one of their problems by securing Lauren Bolton's old flat in the precinct to live in, but of course that will take cash she and Carl don't have.

Meanwhile, Carl is getting his feet under the table at the Chariot Square, hoping to syphon off the cash to solve his problems. It seems he's on the right path when Debbie tells him that she wants him to take a bigger role, but he's crestfallen when she outlines that it will be on the practical side, while she continues to look after the business.

Frustrated, Carl comes up with a plan, and suggests to Debbie his broadened role means she can afford to have some time off for a holiday. Of course, workaholic Debbie needs a bit of persuasion, but does start looking at trips on her phone. When she's called away to sort out a problem, Carl makes his move…

"Debbie leaves her phone with Carl and – would you believe it – when she gets back, there's an email confirming a holiday booking," our insider continues. "Debbie can't believe it either, as she obviously has no memory of making the booking."

It's a truly shameful moment when Carl fakes sympathy before persuading Debbie that she must have made the booking and forgotten because of her dementia.

Distressed Debbie is left devastated at what she thinks is her blunder, but with the holiday bought and paid for, Ronnie Bailey suggests the break might be just what they need. Debbie agrees, leaving Carl free to strike.

"Debbie's barely started packing before Carl's suggests he has access to the accounts to deal with things while she's away," our spy warns. "Of course, Carl makes it sound as though he's doing Debbie a favour, but will she realise that the exact opposite is what's really happening?"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
