Coronation Street and Emmerdale are set to cross paths in a historic soap move early next year, though fans have spotted an early crossover clue.

ITV's two sister soaps are set to have a common storyline for the first time ever and are gearing up for an historic event that will kick off a five-night-a-week broadcast schedule.

As the big crossover is set to culminate in early 2026, it seems that Corrie and Emmerdale bosses are already at work to make the crossover as seamless as possible.

Easter eggs are being scattered around Weatherfield and the Dales, with fans noticing a reference to Emmerdale on the cobbles in an episode aired last week.

As Asha Alahan headed to Weatherfield police station to report a hate crime, viewers noticed that a poster behind her showed Emmerdale killer John Sugden with an appeal for information (via The Sun).

The poster is the first in a string of clues that will be left in both soaps for fans to spot.

Announced earlier this year, the crossover episode is said to include a huge stunt that will affect residents in both Weatherfield and the Dales.

Additional plot and cast details are being kept under wraps, though it seems that the two soaps' executive producers are pulling out all the stops to make sure the feature-length episode will be one to remember.

Speaking about the hotly-anticipated event, Aaron Dingle star Danny Miller said not even he or his Emmerdale co-stars know a lot at this stage.

"I genuinely don't know, and I'm as interested as everyone else to find out what they're going to do with it," Miller told Luke Hamnett on the Live Laugh Luke podcast.

"It's very much a secret, closed-off project at the moment. The powers that be know what's going on; it trickles down to us eventually."

Miller confirmed that the episode will be filmed "in September/October" and assured it would be meatier than previous crossovers.

"The one thing they've said is that it won't be someone walking into the Rovers and going 'Oh I've got the wrong pub', it's not going to be like that," he said.

"They don't want to make it look like it’s just a piss take. They want to make it a really good, high-end drama. I hope they do. Soap for me has changed my life."
