Coronation Street aired a shocking scene involving Todd Grimshaw and Theo Silverton as their relationship entered unsteady waters.

The pair have been together for the last couple of months, though it has been far from plain sailing as Theo's traumatic past with conversion therapy meant he initially struggled to express his sexuality.

After eventually coming together, recent weeks have seen Theo exhibit worrying signs of controlling behaviour, and becoming increasingly jealous over his partner's friendship with Billy Mayhew.

Monday's (1 September) episode began with Theo grilling Todd as to why he hadn't answered his phone, quickly getting to the subject of Billy, as he wanted assurances that Todd hadn't spoken to him.

After Todd assuaged his fears, Theo shared that he would soon be heading to his mediation meeting with his estranged wife, Danielle. Once there, he got a shock, as Noah - an old foe from the past - arrived with Danielle.

The meeting didn't go exactly to plan, with Theo taking umbrage as Danielle referred to Miles and Millie as "her" children rather than "theirs". As he returned home, he called Todd, who was at the Rovers.

As the pair spoke, Theo overheard Billy in the background, and his mood soured immediately. He soon drowned his sorrows in a bottle of alcohol, and drunkenly stumbled towards the Rovers.

He stopped short of heading into the pub, however, and instead waited for Todd to return home. After he arrived with a pair of kebabs, he attempted to feed Theo, who then smacked the food to the ground.

He chastised Todd for his eating habits and accused him of abandoning him in his hour of need. After cruelly attempting to force-feed Todd, Theo said he was leaving the house and never wanted to see him again.

Despite his pledge at the end of the episode, the storyline between Theo and Todd is set to rumble on in the coming weeks, with actor Gareth Pierce confirming that Theo's behaviour will escalate.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
