Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has hinted at Stephen Reid's long-running plot ending with creepy flashforwards.
The soap kicked off a huge week on Monday night (October 9) as Carla Barlow, Sarah Platt-Barlow and Michael Bailey were all shown in a police interrogation room being questioned in flashforward sequences – all three in various states of distress.
Back in the present timeline, Carla explained to Peter Barlow that she'd listen to the police and even apologise to Stephen to avoid him suspecting the police are investigating him.
Peter was on edge over Carla's tactic, insisting he was going to take the matter up himself. Meanwhile, Tim and Sally were busy planning a romantic evening for their anniversary.
Stephen got a fright when he found out from Brian Packham that the local council were planning to start dredging the canal, where he'd dumped one of the corpses several months ago.

Over at the factory, Carla followed through with her plan to throw Stephen off the police's scent by apologising to him in front of the staff and said she realised Rufus must have spiked her with LSD.
A surprised Stephen accepted her apology, insisting there's "no use holding grudges". Carla was then shown speaking to a detective and she was urged to hold her tongue because Stephen is under investigation.
Others in Weatherfield were suspecting something was up with Stephen, with Roy and Sarah admitting it was "odd" to see Carla do such an about-face.
Carla couldn't handle keeping the secret once she saw Jenny getting ready to leave for Thailand with Stephen, so she explained all about the underhanded things Stephen had done at the factory.
Jenny initially tried to brush off Carla's concern but was left with suspicions when Carla asked why Stephen wouldn't have confided in her about the LSD accusation.
"Think about what I said, and Jenny, please don't go to Thailand," Carla begged.
Meanwhile, Tim had overheard Brian Packham talking to Peter about Stephen's interest in the canal and decided he was going to do some investigating of his own, seeing as he'd followed Stephen to that same area earlier this month.
Tim used a makeshift spear to poke around in the canal, and soon enough, he uncovered a corpse. Unfortunately, he had bad phone reception and couldn't get through to police.
As he struggled on the phone, Stephen slid into the backseat of Tim's car, having obviously followed him. Stephen pretended he'd been looking at Brian's cleanup project and requested a taxi ride back to town.
When Stephen realised that Tim was driving them towards the police station, he pulled off his tie and used it to choke Tim. Tim managed to escape and run for his life, only to be knocked out with a pipe by Stephen when he reached a dead-end.
Sometime later, Stephen had bound and tied Tim and shoved him into the boot of his taxi. He was ready to light the cab on fire, but hearing a helicopter overhead, he rushed off instead.
Stephen was next shown arriving back on the cobbles in another taxi. As he caught up with Jenny, she chose not to tell him about Carla's warning from earlier.
Jenny was left having to stall when Stephen suggested they move up their departure to the following night. Stephen could sense something was up as Jenny asked to stall their exit for at least a month.
Once he was left alone, Stephen called up the airline with a sinister change of planes – he moved up the flight to the following day… and he'd now be travelling alone.
In the night's cliffhanger, it turned out that police received Tim's call after all and discovered the body in the canal. But what has become of Tim?
