By Monday's episode (October 16), a police investigation is well under way and some of the Street's familiar faces are being urged to provide answers.

Carla desperately tries to keep her focus on the factory, which is facing a financial crisis thanks to Stephen stealing £250,000 from the Underworld account.

Carla promises her employees that she plans to do everything she can to save the factory.

This includes flying out to Spain in the hope of securing a lucrative new deal. Beth Sutherland, Kirk Sutherland and Simon Barlow remain unconvinced as they worry that they won't receive any wages.

Michael Bailey faces an even worse outcome when he's informed that he's losing his job, as Stephen tricked him into helping steal the money.

Alison King, who plays Carla, recently told Digital Spy and other media: "Carla is really mean [to Michael] at first, but when she realises she needs him and he's a really good designer, she's like: 'Okay, you can stay!' She welcomes him back like a mummy figure."

Ryan Russell, who plays Michael, also joked: "If I can make her double what he loses – half a million – then she might forgive him, but until that day I imagine Carla is not going to be happy.

"There's a line where Carla is like: 'How could you be so stupid, Michael?' That really hit home. I really felt that! It felt like getting told off by your mum."
