Coronation Street spoilers follow.

It might finally be the beginning of the end for killer Stephen Reid as a body is found in upcoming scenes of Coronation Street.

The cobbles have been Stephen's killing field for the past year, with the villain's body count increasing as he's desperately trying to cover his tracks.

In new pictures obtained by Digital Spy, Ed and Ronnie Bailey appear devastated as they make a horrific discovery at their property development project. The images shows Ronnie bringing his hand to his mouth in shock as he's looking at something, or someone, laying on the ground.

What to Read Next

While the pictures from set do not disclose the nature of what Ed's going to find, it seems likely it will be the remains of one of Stephen's victims.

At the end of last year, the disgraced businessman accidentally killed Leo Thompkins, who became the first in a long list of people bumped off by Stephen.

Unbeknown to all Weatherfield residents, Ed and Ronnie's site houses Leo's remains. If confirmed, this storyline will mark Stephen's downfall as he'll have some explaining to do after insisting Leo had moved to Canada.

Lately, the walls have been closing in on Stephen, who has added Leo's father Teddy and rival businessman Rufus Donahue to his death toll.

The baddie also tried to off his ex-fiancé Elaine Jones and repeatedly laced Carla Connor's tea with LSD to make it look like she'd had a mental health relapse.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
