Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has confirmed that Damon Hay is not dead following his hasty exit from Weatherfield.

The idea of Damon's demise came up in Monday's episode (July 10) as a worried Adam Barlow read a Gazette article about one of the brothers Damon was involved with killing a local gangster.

Adam was consumed with guilt over the possibility he may have set the wheels in motion for Damon's death, so he started scrolling through Sarah's phone to see if she'd made contact with him.

Sarah had just received the wonderful news that Owen's boss was signing a contract for the Nippersnapper range, so she was alarmed to see her partner invading her privacy.

Adam explained that he'd done something reckless in speaking to a local gangster about Damon in order to run him out of Weatherfield. However, the conversation was put on hold when Sarah realised she was bleeding and their baby could be at risk.

They rushed to the hospital, where after a scan, both were relieved to hear the baby is fine. Adam then told Sarah that he knows in his heart the child is his, but if it does turn out to be Damon's, he isn't sure if he can handle it.

There was more good news in the meantime as Nick revealed to Adam that the police had confirmed the body they'd found wasn't Damon.

While Adam breathed a sigh of relief that he didn't contribute to his romantic rival's demise, a tearful Sarah admitted to Dee-Dee that it feels like she will have to choose between Adam and the baby if the child turns out to be Damon's.

Viewers are set to get answers over the paternity soon when Sarah is able to confirm the father of her child

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
